How to Create Category Pages?

Webayt Category pages in a CMS allow content to be grouped under specific headings. Category pages are used to display content more neatly in sections such as blogs, help centers, news, or similar platforms.
Category pages do not operate independently. Each category page is linked to a previously created Information and Section Page .
What is a Category Page?
A category page is an intermediate page where content is listed under a specific section page.
For example, if the Help Center is a section page, then category pages can be created under that section:
- Beginning
- General Use
- Modules
- Technical Operations
Content pages added to these categories are listed under the respective category page.
The Relationship Between Category Pages and Section Pages
When creating a new category page, an Information and Section Page is selected. The selected information and section page becomes the main section to which that category belongs.
For example:
Yardım Merkezi ├── Başlangıç ├── Genel Kullanım ├── Modüller └── Teknik İşlemlerIn this example, Help Center is the information and section page. Getting Started, General Use, Modules, and Technical Operations are category pages linked to Help Center.
How to Create a New Category Page?
To create a new category page, go to Pages → Category Pages in the admin panel.
- From the left-hand menu of the panel, click the Pages menu.
- Open the Category Pages screen.
- Go to the Create Category Page tab.
- Enter the category name in the Category Page Name field.
- Add the category description or introductory text to the Category Page Content field.
- Please fill in the Page Address (URL) field.

- From the Section Page field, select the information and section page to which this category will belong.
- Select the relevant group from the Group Selection area.
- Set the Page Access area to on or off.
- Click the Create button.
Why is Chapter Page Selection Important?
When creating a category page, the "Section Page" option determines under which main structure that category will be listed.
For example, if you create a category called "Getting Started" and select "Help Center" as the section page, this category will operate under the Help Center.
Content added to this category is also listed within the Help Center structure.
What is the purpose of group selection?
When adding a category page, you will be prompted to select a group . Group selection is used in some modules to ensure that only specific categories and content are listed.
For example, when you want to add a Content Module specific to the homepage, this module can be filtered by a particular group. This way, only categories and content belonging to the selected group will be listed on the homepage.
This structure allows for flexible use, enabling the display of different content groups on different pages.
How to List Content on Category Pages?
To add content to a category page, the relevant category must first be created. Then, when creating new content from the Content Pages section, this category is selected.
When creating a content page, the category selected determines under which category page the content will be listed.
Can modules be added to category pages?
Modules cannot be added directly to category pages. In the CMS, module addition is only possible for the Homepage (Settings → General Settings → Module Management Tab) and Information and Section Pages .
Category pages inherit the modules added to the section page they are linked to. This means that the modules displayed on a category page originate from the section page associated with that category.
For example, if a custom content or banner module is added to the Help Center section page, that module may also be displayed on category pages linked to the Help Center.
Template Usage
Custom content created in Template Management can also be used on category pages via shortcodes.
For example, you can add a shortcode like this to the category description field:
{ { template:mock_template_name } }This shortcode automatically displays the previously prepared template content on the category page.
Lists to be Updated Area
At the bottom of the category page editing screen, you'll find the "Lists to Update" section. This section allows you to specify which languages' list translations should be updated in multilingual structures.
If there are any updates to the text in the lists for the selected languages, the translation will be redone. Existing translations will be preserved in the lists for languages that are not selected. Common fields that do not require translation will continue to be updated in all lists.
Thus, translation updates are only made in the lists for the selected languages, while existing translations in unselected languages are preserved.
When should you use a category page?
You can create category pages in the following cases:
- When you want to categorize blog content by topic
- When you want to categorize help center articles
- When you want to organize and list news, announcements, or guide content.
- When you want to display specific content groups on the homepage or in different modules
Translation and Lazy Loading in HTML Content
HTML content can be used in the content editor on this page. For long content, the use of translation tags and lazy loading is important for the smooth progress of the automatic translation process and for more efficient image loading.
For detailed information, please refer to the guide on Translation and Lazy Loading in HTML Content .
Summary
Category pages are used in the Webayt CMS to group content in an organized manner. Each category page is linked to an information and section page. This ensures that categories and content are listed under the correct section.
Category pages do not have modules added directly. Category pages display modules by inheriting them from the section page they are linked to.
