How to use General Settings?

Webayt In a CMS, General Settings are used to manage basic website information, language and translation settings, metadata, email sending settings, and some system options used site-wide.
Through this section, you can edit your website name, company information, logo and icon images, contact information, site status, SSL usage, caching usage, primary language selection, translation API information, meta descriptions, and email link settings.
How can I access the General Settings page?
To access the General Settings page, open the Settings menu from the left menu in the Webayt administration panel and then enter the General Settings page.
Settings → General Settings
On the General Settings screen, different setting groups are presented in tabs. These tabs allow you to manage general site information, language settings, metadata, and email settings separately.
Tabs on the General Settings Screen
The General Settings page contains the following tabs:
- Site Settings: Site title, company information, logo, icon, contact information, and some technical options throughout the site are managed from this section.
- Language Settings: The site language, translation API key, and words that should not be translated are edited in this section.
- Module Management: Modules to be used on the homepage are managed from this section.
- Meta Settings: The meta title, description, abstract, author, copyright, and additional script/meta codes to be used throughout the site are edited in this section.
- Email Settings: SMTP information for emails sent by the system is managed from this section.
The Module Management tab, used to manage homepage modules, is explained in detail in a separate guide. For more information on this topic, you can refer to the "How to Add Modules to Pages?" guide.
What is the purpose of the Site Settings tab?
The Site Settings tab is where the basic identity and configuration information of the website is managed. Here you can edit the site title, company name, logo, icon, phone number, WhatsApp number, address, footer copyright text, and various other site options.
Changes made in this area can affect the overall appearance of the website and some basic operational behaviors. Therefore, areas such as the logo, icons, site status, SSL usage, and caching usage should be carefully managed.
Site Title
The site title is the header information that can be displayed in a browser tab or in some theme areas when a website is viewed.
You can enter your website or brand name in this field. It is recommended to use a short, clear title that explicitly expresses your brand name.
Company Name
The Company Name is used to indicate the company or brand information of the site owner. This information may be displayed in the footer area or in different sections of the site, depending on the theme structure.
Having an accurate and up-to-date company name is important, especially on corporate websites.
Logo and Icon Fields
The logo field is used to determine the main logo image to be used on the website. The icon field can be used for the site icon or the image used in some theme areas.
Logo and icon images can be changed via the relevant image selection areas. For detailed information on image uploading, please refer to the guide "How to Upload Images in the Webayt Panel?" .
When choosing a logo and icon, ensure the images are clear, the correct size, and appropriate for your brand.
Phone and WhatsApp Information
The phone and WhatsApp fields are used to specify contact numbers that can be displayed to visitors on the website.
It is recommended to enter phone numbers including the country code. This makes contact information more understandable for visitors from different countries.
Address Area
The address field is used to enter your company's full address information. This information may be displayed in the footer, contact area, or other sections of the site, depending on the theme.
Having up-to-date address information is important, especially on corporate websites and contact pages.
Footer Copyright
The Footer Copyright section is used to edit the copyright text that can be displayed at the bottom of the site.
This section can contain information such as the brand name, year range, and copyright statement. Since it will be displayed in the footer, a short and simple text is preferred.
Version Area
Version control can be used to prevent browsers from using older files from the cache, especially after updates to CSS and JavaScript files.
Changing this value can ensure that new versions of static files are loaded, depending on the theme structure. This prevents users from remaining with outdated CSS or JavaScript files in their browsers.
Site Status
Site Status is used to determine whether a website is accessible to visitors and search engines.
When the site status is "open," the website can be viewed normally. When it is "closed," site access may be restricted or the website may be shown as closed to visitors, depending on the theme and system structure.
This area should be used with caution during maintenance work, preparation processes, or temporary access restrictions.
Subdomain Usage
Subdomain Usage can be used to manage settings related to a website's use of www or subdomain behavior.
Because this area relates to the site's domain name structure, you must ensure the existing domain and redirection structure are correct before making any changes.
SSL Usage
SSL usage is the setting used to enable a website to operate using HTTPS. This option can be enabled if an SSL certificate is installed.
When SSL is enabled, the goal is for site connections to operate over a secure connection. However, if an SSL certificate is not installed or properly configured, site access may be problematic.
Therefore, before changing the SSL settings, you should ensure that the SSL certificate is installed and active on the server.
Cache Usage
Cache Usage is a setting that allows a website to load faster by using cache files.
When this setting is enabled, cache files can be used on appropriate pages. Caching files allow pages to be presented to the visitor more quickly instead of being processed repeatedly.
For detailed information about caching systems, you can refer to the "How to Use Caching?" guide.
Site Width
Site Width is a setting that affects the maximum width behavior of a website, depending on the theme structure.
When this area is open, the site width can be used in a wider configuration. When it is closed, the theme's default width settings will apply.
Since this setting can affect the design appearance, it's a good idea to check the desktop and mobile view of the website after making the change.
Media Compression
Media Compression can be used to specify whether automatic compression should be used when uploading media files.
When this setting is enabled, supported media files can be optimized during loading. This can reduce image file sizes and improve page loading performance.
However, in some cases, due to image quality or specific file requirements, this setting may need to be used cautiously.
What is the purpose of the Language Settings tab?
The Language Settings tab is used to manage the site's primary language and basic settings related to the automatic translation system.
In this section, you can select the site language, enter the Google Cloud Translation API key, and specify words that you do not want translated.
Site Language
Site Language is used to specify the primary language in which content will be entered. This language is considered the source language in the system.
Content is primarily prepared in the selected site language. Automatic translation for other languages can be performed via this source language.
If the site language is to be changed, consideration should be given to how this change will affect existing content and multilingual structures.
API Key
The API Key is used to enter the Google Cloud Translation API key that will be used for automated translation processes.
Automatic translation processes may not work if this field is not filled in correctly. Because the API key is confidential information, it should be stored securely and not shared with unauthorized persons.
If the translation system is to be actively used, ensure that the API key is valid and authorized for the relevant services.
How to get a Google Translate key for Webayt?
Words that should not be translated
The "Words Not to Be Translated" field is used for brand names or specific words that you do not want translated.
Words added to this field are preserved in automatic translation processes. For example, brand names, product names, or special terms can be added to this field.
If multiple words are to be added, they can be separated by commas. These words will be exempt from translation across the entire site, in all languages, and on all pages.
What is the purpose of the Meta Settings tab?
The Meta Settings tab is used to manage the general meta information of a website that is used by search engines and crawlers.
In this section, you can edit the meta title, meta description, meta abstract, meta author, meta copyright, and additional scripts, styles, or meta codes.
Meta Title
The meta title is the title information that can be seen in the browser tab and often in search results when a webpage is viewed.
This section should be short, descriptive, and reflect the main topic of the website. Ideally, a title that is not too long and clearly describes the brand and service should be chosen.
Meta Description
The Meta Description is a short description of a webpage's content. It can be used as descriptive text that is displayed to users in search results.
This section should contain a short, descriptive text that clearly explains what your website offers.
Meta Abstract
Meta Abstract is one of the meta fields used to provide general information about a website's content.
A brief description summarizing the site's general structure, field of activity, or services can be written in this section.
Meta Author and Meta Copyright
Meta Author can be used to specify the website owner, brand, or contact information.
Meta Copyright is the section where copyright information is located. It is recommended to use accurate brand and contact information in these sections.
Additional Script, Style and Meta Codes
The Extra Script, Style, and Meta Codes section contains the code for the page. It can be used for custom code that needs to be added between tags.
Google Analytics, Google Search Console verification tags, various analytics tools, custom meta tags, or some integration codes can be added to this field.
Care should be taken when adding code to this area. Incorrectly added scripts or meta codes can affect the page's functionality, appearance, or SEO.
What is the purpose of the Email Settings tab?
The Email Settings tab is used to manage the necessary SMTP connection information for sending emails through the system.
For contact forms, dynamic form notifications, or other emails sent by the system to function, this information must be entered correctly.
Email Field
The Email field is used to specify the sender's email address. This address can be used in emails sent from the system.
A valid email address authorized by the server must be entered in this field.
Password Field
The password field contains the password information used for the SMTP connection of the email account. For security reasons, the password may be displayed hidden in the panel.
If you need to update your password, make sure you have entered the correct account password.
Host and Port Fields
The Host field specifies the SMTP server to be used for sending emails. The Port field specifies the port through which to connect to this server.
This information may vary depending on your email service provider. Entering incorrect host or port information may prevent the system from sending emails.
After configuring email settings, fields that generate email notifications, such as contact forms or dynamic forms, should be tested.
Lists to be Updated
Some tabs on the General Settings page may contain a "Lists to Update" section. This section is used to specify which language lists to update in multilingual environments.
Especially in translation-related areas, you can control which languages need to be updated through this section.
For more detailed information on this topic, you can review the guide "How to Use Update Lists?" .
What should be considered when using General Settings?

- Make sure the logo and icon images are the correct files.
- Keep your phone number, WhatsApp number, and address information up to date.
